If you’re having furnace problems and you’re wondering why is my furnace not working, then we have two simple furnace troubleshooting tips for you in today’s video.

First, check the thermostat. Look to see if the display is working, or if the batteries need to be charged. Then double-check the system is set to Heat. Finally, is the temperature set to at least three degrees above the current room temperature? Sometimes that’s enough to turn the furnace back on.

If that doesn’t fix your problem, then it’s time to inspect the ignition. Start by checking if there is enough heating oil. If you recently ran out and refilled, some units require you to use the reset button on the burner.

If you have an older system with an always-on pilot light, make sure it’s still on, or re-light the pilot.
